The Green Agents
The Green Agents-project was launched in 2015 and revolves around the idea that sustainable living should be easy for every citizen. To ensure this, a small team of Green Agents are ready to help, guide and develop sustainable ideas in cooperation with any person, organisation or institution within Aalborg, be it energy saving, waste management, urban gardening, circular or shared economy, recycling, or something completely different aiming at promoting sustainability. The Green Agents have a variety of partners and collaborators to draw knowhow from within the Center for Green Transition and other departments of the Aalborg Municipality, as well as outside stakeholders from local and national organisations, institutions and civil society.
The program involves many initiatives, here amongst International Network of Green Agents, also called the INGA program. The INGA program is an opportunity for students to work interdisciplinary and in practically with sustainable issues. The program saw the light of day for the first time in 2017, when an Australian intern at Center for Green Transition composed the program to create a partnership between the municipality and higher education in the city, with a focus on international students. He collected 7 international students for a 12-week program, where they jointly prepared 8 recommendations for us at Center for Green Transition and our campaign "Make us all greener".
To reach the citizens of Aalborg, the Green Agents strive to be visual and accessible through various activities like conferences, seminars and outreach meetings and an annual Sustainability Festival, and connect and communicate through social media. The goal is to meet the citizens "where they are" and support those who wants to contribute to the sustainability agenda through voluntary work.
